According to the Unified Numbering System (UNS):
Silicon Bronzes (Silicon Brasses) are copper alloys, containing 0.5-3.5% of silicon (Si) as the major alloying element. Wrought Silicon Bronzes are designated with the numbers from C64700 through C66199.
Wrought Silicon Bronzes may contain zinc (Zn), nickel (Ni), tin (Sn) and manganese (Mn) as additional alloying elements.
Silicon Bronzes have mono-phase structure (α-phase) and possess very good formability in cold and hot states.
Wrought Silicon Bronzes have moderate mechanical strength combined with very good corrosion resistance (particularly in chemicals) and very good weldability.
Wrought Silicon Bronzes are strengthened by cold work (strain hardening). Ductility of the alloys decreases as a result of cold work.
Silicon Bronzes are used for manufacturing pump & valve component, fastener, piston ring, hydraulic tubing, marine hardware, chemical equipment, hot water tanks, bushings, bolts, nuts, machine screws.
